Condition
Foot Pain
Elland Foot Clinic can help with foot pain.
Generalised foot pain can negatively impact your life. Whether it’s arch pain, joint pain or pain from hard skin, Elland Foot Clinic can help you get back on your feet.
This can be treated with an assessment, routine foot care, orthotics or something as simple as footwear advice.
Condition
Ankle Pain
Ankle pain can be caused by various factors such as an injury to a tendon, ligament, joint or a bone. A few common conditions are lateral ankle sprains, tibialis posterior tendinopathy or degenerative arthritis.
Elland Foot Clinic can help with this by assessing your ankle, followed by stretching, strengthening, footwear advice and orthotic prescriptions.
Condition
Toe Pain
Toe pain can be caused by a few common conditions. Bunions, hallux rigidus, hallux limitus and gout are a few common conditions that cause toe pain. These are all very different conditions and are treated in a different way.
Some treatments include, orthotics, footwear advice, stretching, strengthening or prescription medicines depending on the problem you have.
Condition
Plantar Fasciitis
Elland Foot Clinic are specialists in treating plantar fasciitis.
Plantar fasciitis is an extremely common, yet debilitating heel condition that often causes severe pain in the morning or after prolonged activity.
Treatment focuses on reducing the inflammation in your heel with the use of orthotics, stretches, ice application and very importantly: footwear advice.
Condition
Achilles Tendinopathy
Achilles tendinopathy is damage or inflammation to the tendon at the back of your ankle. This is often caused by overuse or overloading. This can affect people of all ages, especially people who participate in regular exercise.
Elland Foot Clinic can help with this. This can be achieved with a thorough assessment, orthotics, stretches and strengthening programme.
Condition
Morton’s Neuroma
This is a type of neuritis (nerve inflammation) which usually causes burning, pain and tingling between the 3rd and 4th metatarsal space. This can also happen between other metatarsals spaces, but it’s less common. The main causes are compression from tight shoes or a slim foot. Sometimes there’s no reason. The treatment we offer at Elland Foot Clinic focuses on reducing the compression with the use of metatarsal domes on orthotics and joint manipulation.
Condition
Verrucae (Plantar Warts)
Plantar warts (verrucas) are caused by the ‘human papilloma virus’. This causes a yellow/grey, hard lump usually on the sole of your foot. They are often an uncomfortable and emotionally distressing lesion which can heavily impact your life.
The good news is Elland Foot Clinic can help you. We can treat them with sharp debridement, acid therapy or a minor surgical procedure called verrucae needling.
Condition
Fungal Nail Infections
Fungal nail infections cause a discoloured, thick and crumbly nail. It is a harmless nail condition, but it can heavily impact a person’s confidence, especially if they want to wear open toe shoes such as sandals. Over the counter treatments often fail as the treatments often can’t reach the infection which is under the nail plate.
One treatment we offer at Elland Foot Clinic is burring of the nail to expose the infection so the treatments then work. We also offer a treatment called nail fenestration which creates pathways in the nail plate to allow the fungal agents to work.
Condition
Ingrowing Toenails
Ingrowing toenails cause severe pain around the skin at the edges of the nail. They are often accompanied by redness, swelling, extreme tenderness, infection and yellow discharge. They are common in all age groups, especially teenagers and young adults. Sometimes they can be caused by improper nail cutting, tight shoes or blunt trauma. Often there is no known cause and it’s just the natural shape of your nail.
At Elland Foot Clinic, we offer expert treatment to resolve this problem for you. This involves minor surgery, which usually takes an hour. You can resume normal activities the day after it’s done. Most people usually feel instant relief despite the procedure!
Condition
Corns and Callus
Corns and callus are areas of thickened skin in response to repetitive pressure and friction. Corns are often very painful and have a hard centre known as a corn nucleus. They often appear on the tops of toes, the end of your toes or on the ball of your foot.
Callus on the other hand, can develop anywhere – usually the ball of your foot and heel. Needless to say they can heavily impact your life, limiting your activities and even the choice of footwear.
We offer a range of treatments at Elland Foot Clinic such as sharp debridement, orthotics to redistribute the pressure and also podospray – where we gently drill the corn away. Some corn types can be prevented by ensuring you moisturise your feet every day.
