Specialist Foot Pain Clinic

Specialist Foot Pain Clinic focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and management of conditions affecting the muscles, joints, bones, and soft tissues of the foot and ankle. At Elland Foot Clinic we specialise in identifying foot pathologies and movement-related issues that contribute to pain or injury during walking, running, or standing.

What Is Specialist Foot Pain Clinic?

Where routine podiatry focuses on skin and nails, Specialist Foot Pain Clinic looks at how your foot and ankle are built, how they move and how they cope with the loads of daily life, work and sport. It suits anyone with foot or ankle pain that has come on gradually, flared up after an increase in activity or simply not gone away.

Foot and Ankle Conditions We Treat

Heel Pain

Pain under or behind the heel, including plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, fat pad syndrome and Baxter’s nerve entrapment. Not sure which? Start with our Heel Pain Clinic.

Forefoot and Toe Pain

Pain in the ball of the foot and toes, including Morton’s neuroma, plantar plate injuries, sesamoiditis and a stiff big toe from hallux limitus or hallux rigidus.

Arch and Midfoot Pain

Aches across the top or middle of the foot and arches that are dropping, including midfoot osteoarthritis and painful flat feet linked to posterior tibial tendinopathy.

Ankle Pain

Pain around the ankle is often caused by the tendons that wrap around it. We treat inner ankle pain from posterior tibial tendinopathy, outer ankle pain from peroneal tendinopathy and back-of-ankle pain from the Achilles. As an ankle pain specialist, Nick will also check whether an old sprain or weakness is adding to the problem.

How Your Assessment Works

  1. Your story. We ask when the pain started, what makes it better or worse and what you want to get back to.
  2. Hands-on examination. We check the joints, tendons and nerves of your foot and ankle, and how your foot sits when you stand.
  3. Movement and strength tests. Simple tests such as heel raises, squats and walking show how your foot copes with load.
  4. Digital foot scan. Where useful, our scanner maps the pressure under your foot as you walk.
  5. Diagnosis and plan. You leave knowing what is wrong, why, and exactly what to do next.

FAQ

Specialist Foot Pain Clinic FAQs

What exactly do you assess?

Both can treat musculoskeletal pain. A podiatrist specialises only in the foot and ankle, including foot mechanics, footwear and orthotics, so it is the best first choice when your pain is in your foot or ankle.

Our focus is the foot and ankle. If your foot mechanics may be contributing to knee pain, we can assess this and discuss whether orthotics could help. For hip pain or knee problems that need a fuller assessment, we will point you towards the right professional.

Some private health insurers cover podiatry with an HCPC-registered podiatrist. Check with your insurer before booking whether you are covered and whether they need a referral or authorisation code.
